The Next Microsoft

The Next Microsoft. It’s kinda pretty but I don’t think much would change.

SoundWorks Collection - The Sound of Brave on Vimeo

SoundWorks Collection came out with a short video on The Sound of Brave on Vimeo. It is vague on actual examples but plenty of descriptions of those examples. The vague examples must be a result of the movie not being released yet. I expect a more complete showing of this extra to show up on a DVD.

Big Finish, makers of wonderful things such as Doctor Who audio adventures, the canceled Tomorrow People (damn you Fremantle Media Enterprise!!) and many more gems, did a podcast special about this exact topic.

Making something people love

From the levels gift giving and finding you’re nitch of people to chat with to Shit Reddit Says and the nastiness that is anonymous hatred, Reddit is without a doubt a place not to ignore. It combines the best of 4chan (the anonymity) with best of what was Digg and encourage the users to take it future making Reddit to have it is eleven spices and herbs that we all love. Make Something People Love: Lessons From a Startup Guy is an exciting book I will be reading as soon done with the current A Song of Ice and Fire book i am reading, the Nerd Ranch’s Guide to iOS Dev book and Kevin Mitnick’s new book

Apple releases a Podcasts app for iOS

Seems like the rumors were true about iOS 6 taking podcasts out of the music app. Apple just released Podcasts for iOS. A very good looking app, as you would expect, but it doesn’t take OPML files, which iTunes uses to export podcast.
I have been happy with iCatcher as my choice of podcast catching app (that will always sound awkward to me). It’s not pretty but it works smoothly with all the features I would want.

The Great Porn Experiment

Someone close to me pointed out r/NoFap on reddit a while back. This was during Lent and gave up things such as reddit. I finally remmeberd to look at it and found this interesting talk called “The Great Porn Experiment” by Gary Wilson.

Harmonica rendition of Game Of Thrones theme

The “A Song of Ice and Fire” series bug has finally bit and I stumbled upon this rendition of the GoT theme.

I’m totally having a “shut up and take my money moment”.

The Time Traveler's Cookbook: Meat-Lover's Edition

Easily the best way paleo cookbook ever: The Time Traveler’s Cookbook: Meat-Lover’s Edition.

Command-Tab on your iPad - Tao of Mac

Command-Tab on your iPad - Tao of Mac:

You switch on VoiceOver (preferably setting the triple-home shortcut to toggle it, since you’ll be needing it a lot more), and besides the rotor gestures (with which you’re advised to familiarize yourself with), you get a few interesting key combinations:

I am truly grateful for this new bit of information. While not perfect, it is a lot better then reaching up each time I need to touch the screen. It is a bit too much of a hack for me to recommend it for everyday people but this is really a “power user” tip.

DrDang - 2:40

Almost any time beyond 2:30 will make the water hot enough. In fact, for months—maybe even a year—after we got this microwave, I set the time to 2:45 and the tea was just fine. But there was that little annoyance.

The annoyance came from the turntable in the microwave and the handle on the measuring cup. I’d put the cup in with the handle pointing out, and 2:45 later I’d open the door and the handle was around to the other side.

Also, read the Hacker News comments for more silliness.
